Where do you call home?

Right now, this little house just north of Birmingham. For a while, a tiny apartment in B'ham. Then me and the husband reconciled and I moved back in.

I really need to go cut down some of the tree limbs in the backyard.

Flying to Michigan by myself to meet a girl I had only known online, and then meeting about a dozen other lj people. And oh, seeing two *NSync concerts. My first fandom vacation and it was a *blast*.

Hmmm, not scared of spiders, not scared of bugs in general...let's go with bears. Bears can legitimatly fuck you up. Coyotes should be scary, but I actually saw one hiking one time and he split when he saw two of us.

I don't think so. I mean, everybody has someone who they can't forgive for ego reasons, but I just can't hold on to a grudge for a long time. And yes, there are people who are no longer in my life and I don't need them back. But I don't hold any grudges.

(Okay, the guy who held me up at gunpoint and robbed me. Maybe him. But I think he's dead now.)

Okay, last night.

It was Evan's birthday, so I spent the day making his cake and a good dinner while waiting for him to come home. When he did, we went to Sloss Furnace for the show.

Now, a word about Sloss. Only in Birmingham would we (1)have a actual Historical Landmark built around an ancient pig-iron producing plant, and (2) we would think this was a great place to have shows. The shows are in a large covered shed. I believe it's called the "Cast Shed". Nice naming there. But yes, this was a real factory, that my aunt used to work in back in the 50's. And it had a spectactuarly bad safety record, which may be why it's on the list of most haunted places in the country. I mention all this because two bands saw fit to talk about how scary Sloss is :D.

So, we get there and push somewhere to the middle, and see Drive-By. I like Drive-By! They were a good act. I should've gotten their record, but I'll look for it online, maybe.

Next up was Billy Talent, who were just okay. But their lead singer made the first Sloss mention by saying: "This place is kind of fucked up. Have you ever walked around this place?" And a girl behind us yelled "Try walking around it at midnight!" He says "Walk around it at night? Fuck no, I was holding my drummer's hand in broad daylight!" I didn't care so much for Billy Talent, but that was funny.

They leave and me and Evan edge up closer. We meet two gay boys from Atlanta. I'm pleased when people from ATL come to see shows here for a change. We get closer, we get closer. Then the lights go off and it's pandemonium.

MCR come on to an audience that's *ready*. There was no pit where I was, but it was a close thing. Gerard at one point said he could see "about five mosh pits" and I believe it. The show started with "How I Disappear" and blasted from there. It was a tight set of mostly hard, upbeat songs.

Everyone looked good, no gym shorts this time around. I actually found myself watching Bob, since I had a good view of him. Mikey looked beautiful, in his namesake t-shirt. And I think Frank had family at the show-near the end a lovely, tiny older lady came out wearing his guitar, Frank holding her hand and talking to her.

As for the second Sloss reference, Gerard said about midway "It's a beautiful night out here. I'm glad we're playing at this...thing. We heard that it was the third most haunted place in the country. So after the show, Mikeyway's gonna be busting out the Ouija board. And gonna try to get haunted!"

Another good Gerard banter moment, someone up front had a Tour de France style scarf. Gerard looked at it and said "Wow, that's great. I can have it? Neat!" And he winds the scarf around his neck, mentioning that not only does he love the Tour de France "but my wife is huge in France." That got a big cheer.

I loved "Teenagers" with the harmonica. Great bit there. I loved the whole set, really. Great stuff. They ended with no encore, which was fine by me because my back was really starting to hurt. I've got to start exercising more.

Then we went home and I frosted Evan's birthday cake. We had cake before midnight. Good night out. Oh, and that was Evan's first time seeing them live and he loved them.

Hell of a day, huh?

I swear, I was gone to work for about nine hours, and I come back to find that boob fondleing is the talk of the town.

Everyone else has virtually kicked theferrett's ballsac across the room, so let me just say this:

(1.)Your idea of a utopia is free access to boobs? Seriously? Seriously?

(2.) When I finally get my mundane sister to come to a con with me (which she's made noises about off and on) now I'm going to have to tell her "If someone gives you a green pin, don't wear it" and "If anyone asks to touch your boobs, ask to knee them in the nuts".

I do not know the neighbors on the left and probably don't care to (one of them has a staring problem). The house next to me is now empty. I love my across the street neighbor though. She's eighty-some and has a poodle. Basically all my neighbors are either very old or questionable.

Well, my sister's still mad about me spilling the beans on her seeing that Motley Crue concert back in 1985. The catch is, I didn't tell mom until two years later, as a funny story. I thought the statute of limitations for sneaking to a hair metal concert was up by then. I was wrong: my sister was grounded.

Let's face it, I should've been punished too. But on the other hand, it's been twenty years and my sister still brings it up at family events. "And you told mom I went to see Motley Crue!"

Mostly records, like my Johnny Thunders bootleg. I had to give away a lot of really nice clothes to friends when I got too big for them.

They aren't. I tend to work on Saturdays and get the middle of the week off. It never has bothered me.

It's more like "fifteen years ago", when I used to go out clubbing and stuff. And even then, I went after work. I wish I had the stamina I did in my early 20's, when I'd get up early to volunteer, then work 14 hours, then get dressed and go out dancing. Good times.

Now I blog.

Dude, I'm 38. It's been a long time since anyone could do that. Actually, I never left my room as a teen, so grounding me was counterproductive. When I skipped school (walking home and causing a minor panic), I was punished by having my stereo taken away for the weekend. That was torture!

Oh my God. Thank you. This was completely unexpected. I'd like to thank the Academy, our wonderful director Todd Hayes, my agent Marion, our producers, my family back home in Alabama, and...just everyone who worked on and believed in our little movie.

And I'd like to thank the audience for accepting our movie the way they did. Thank you for seeing the beauty and love in our story, and together I hope we all work towards a better, more just world.
